4 DAYS – 3 NIGHTS  THURSDAY DEPARTURES   APRIL to MARCH

 

DAY 1: ALLENBY BRIDGE – AMMAN – Drive from Tel Aviv and Jerusalem to Allenby Bridge. Complete border crossing procedures and enter the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Drive to the town of Madaba, the biblical Madaba 30 kilometers south of Amman Madaba is best town for its Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics and the Greek Orthodox church of St. George, visitors may view the earliest surviving original map of the Holy Land. Continue westward to Mt. Nebo, believed to be the Sight of the tomb of Moses. Mt. Nebo corn man d s a spectacular view across the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea. Drive north to the modern capital city of Amman, formerly the Ammonite capital city of Rabbath-Ammon. After short orientation tour check in to hotel. Overnight in Amman. (B)

 

DAY 2: AMMAN – PETRA – AMMAN – Depart early from the hotel and drive south to Wadi Musa. On horseback, travel through the Sip”, an immense crack in the Nubian sand stone to the city of Petra. Two thousand years ago the Nabateans carved a city out of the rose red ‘ock. the Treasury, El Klazneh, is one of the most elegant remains of antiquity. Beyond Er Khazneh the visitor is surrounded on both sides by hundreds of Petra’s carved and b I structures. Return through the Siq to Wadi Musa, then on to Amman. Amman overnight. (B)

 

DAY 3: AMMAN – JERASH AMMAN – Depart hotel for Jerash, one of the best preserved and most complete provincial Roman cities. Jerash Gerasa of Roman times was one of the cities of the Decapolis, a confederation of ten Greco-Roman cities dating from the 1st century BC situated in Jordan, Syria and Israel. Known as the Pompeii of the East for its extraordinary state of preservation the ruins indicate human occupation of this location for more than 2500 years. The best known monuments include the colonnaded street the Temple of Zeus the Forum and Hadrian’s Arch. Return to Amman. Remainder of the day at leisure. Amman overnight. (B)

 

DAY 4: AMMAN – ALLENBY BRIDGE – JERUSALEM – After breakfast, drive from Amman to Allenby Bridge for return to Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. (B)
